Dr Robin Abell is a Fellowship-trained ophthalmologist specialising in cataract surgery, corneal transplantation, and laser vision correction. Based in Hobart and Melbourne, Dr Abell is known for his academic approach to clinical care, having published over 50 peer-reviewed papers on advanced cataract techniques and corneal surgery. He completed his training at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and completed fellowships in Corneal surgery, advanced cataract surgery techniques, and a research fellowship into medical retinal disease such as macular degeneration.
Dr Abell utilises state-of-the-art technology, including EDOF, AI-spiral design, and multifocal intraocular lens technology, Contoura Vision and DMEK corneal transplants, and Boost oxygen-assisted corneal collagen cross-linking, to customise treatment plans for every patient. His practice focuses on evidence-based medicine and patient-centred care, aiming to achieve the optimal visual potential for each individual.
